    Yin Yoga:

    Yin is a very passive yoga practice that targets the deeper connective tissues of the body such as fascia, ligaments, and joints.  It’s slower and more meditative, giving you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations of the body.  Holding poses for longer periods of time is what allows this practice to target these rarely used tissues while also teaching us how to breathe through discomfort and sit with our thoughts.  Based on ancient Chinese philosophies it is believed that these longer held postures help to open and release any stuck energy (Qi) within the body allowing it to flow freely.  Benefits may include, lengthening connective tissue, Increased flexibility, a boost in circulation and a reduction in stress levels.  It is an amazing compliment to any movement, athletic or strength based practice.
